Discharging Ears

This may be as a result of:

  • A middle ear infection that has perforated the eardrum, and is discharging infected material.

  • A child who has grommets (ventilation tubes) That have become infected.

  • A chronic perforated eardrum that has become infected.

  • An infection of the outer ear (ear canal).

  • Or an infected mastoid cavity.

It is advisable to see you DOCTOR with all of the above or a Nurse Specialist Ear Clinic.

​

If you have a local children's Mobile Ear Clinic in your area, your Dr will refer you to the clinic for ear cleaning/treatment to help clear the infection and allow medication to get into the ear.

​

If your area has a public hospital Ear Nose and Throat Department, you may be referred in there for ear cleaning and treatment.

​

EARS MUST NOT BE SYRINGED WHEN THERE IS INFECTION.
